Cancer Information

The information you need to make your own decisions can be found here - either in the books that I have written or elsewhere on the site (in the Archive, for example).

First let me tell you what I am not. I am not a doctor. I have no medical qualifications. The information you find here is based on my wide, and very critical, reading since 1993 (when my wife, Bernadette, was diagnosed with cancer).

However, although I am not a medical professional, I am an educationalist - and a dedicated communicator. I understand the importance of presenting information in a clearly organised way - and in a style that doesn't bore the pants off people. And it was my experience as a critical consumer of cancer books that the book that people needed to guide them through their cancer treatment decisions simply didn't exist.

That's why I wrote Cancer: The Complete Recovery Guide (originally published as Fighting Cancer: A Survival Guide, Hodder Headline, London 1996) - aka The Big Book.

However, as this book grew and grew, it became less and less useful. That's why I decided to slice the information in a different way and present it in a shorter book Healing Cancer: 15 Alternative and Complementary Strategies for Recovery - aka The Little Book.

New Facts. New Ideas.

New information is constantly coming to my attention. When this happens I talk about it in my blog

Disclaimer

This site is for people who take responsibility for their own decisions about treatment. I accept no responsibility for any medical decision you make. Any information you find on this site is for educational purposes only.

It's important for you to understand that I cannot recommend any specific therapy - but I can assure you that if you read my books thoughtfully you will find many approaches that could appeal to you - and which will have a good chance of curing your cancer. One or two of these therapies claim a more than 90 percent success rate. However, in the end, you, yourself, are responsible for whatever decisions you decide to make. A decision based on knowledge and wide reading is clearly better than a decision based on ignorance.
If this is the first time you have been diagnosed with cancer you should know that most people who follow the alternative route have already followed the orthodox route that their doctors recommended. In their cases not only did the orthodox treatments not work, but there was no desire to repeat the experience!
In brief surgery and radiation are both dangerous (for a number of reasons that I explain in my books) and - except for those who have one of a dozen cancers that are known to respond to chemo (about 5 per cent of all cancers - a list that does not include breast, lung or colon cancer) - chemotherapy does not work (all the available evidence requires that conclusion - and, as doctors are continually reminding us, we do want our decision to be based on evidence, don't we?).
This website and my two books are designed to help you explore the world of cancer and to arrive at your own conclusions as to what approach or approaches make sense for you. I have strong opinions about what I would do for myself - but I don't intend to hector you with them. You are different from me. You need to come to your own decision.

I hope you find this website - and my books - useful to you in your own search for answers.

My best wishes to you on your journey to health
